Men's Leadership Summit - no man is an island

Dads4Kids’ recent Men’s Leadership Summit was an incredible weekend of encouragement, practical training and peer-to-peer mentoring. It was certainly heartening to spend the weekend with over 90 other men, each of us committed to being the best we can be.

We were inspired to stand fast in the faith, to be courageous and strong as men. On one’s own or isolated, this is difficult to do. But in the company of great men, well, there’s nothing quite like it.

Thanks to Dads4Kids friend and photographer Tasman Westbury, images help to tell the story of the Summit. We were encouraged by compelling keynote speakers Danny Abdallah,

and Dads4Kids founder Warwick Marsh.

Watch Warwick’s fantastic keynote session on The Greatest Secret to Success:

Led by the talented Joshua Halls, accompanied by Callum Rae on bass and myself on drums, we lifted our voices together and adored our Father in Heaven. There’s nothing quite like over 90 men in full-throated song, singing for their creator.

We laughed together.

Men's Leadership Summit - no man is an island

We cried together.

Men's Leadership Summit - no man is an island

Brave men boldly shared stories they’d never shared before.

Men talked and prayed together.

And they committed to putting thoughts and ideas into action for their lives, their families and their communities.

The Dads4Kids Men’s Leadership Summit continues to go from strength to strength. It was life-changing for me in 2018, and my prayer is that 2025 was life-changing for the men who joined us. Planning is well underway for 28–30 August 2026 – I hope to see you there!

Lovework

It’s good to seek peace and quiet. After all, the Bible says in 1 Timothy 2:2, ‘that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life’. However, we should avoid isolating ourselves and being apart from those who seek to encourage us. It’s not good for you or those around you. The truth is that we need each other.

Consider joining with others, growing as a father and journeying together for the upcoming 10-week Courageous Online Fathering Course (starts 8pm (AEDT) 9 October 2025, on Zoom). Or you could plan to be at next year’s Men’s Leadership Summit, 28-30 August 2026, at Stanwell Tops, New South Wales – more details coming soon. As English poet John Donne wrote, ‘no man is an island.’

Yours for not being an island,
Nathaniel Marsh

There’s a heavy silence around the connection between teen suicide and social media. Victims of this epidemic are usually in their teens, and come from a variety of backgrounds. While the consensus is that this connection is difficult to find, one study said there was a ‘direct association between heavy social media/internet use and increased suicide attempts.’ Factors include unrestricted access to the internet, resulting in exposure to inappropriate content, and ...
