If the holiday season ushers in an assortment of emotions for most people, that’s even more true for single dads this time of year. Joy, laughter, and anticipation may be at the forefront. What about dread, anxiety, or doubt? “Yes” to all of the above, and then some.
Single dads often carry tremendous weight. Some of the toughest times in my entire parenting journey happened when I was a single father. But I have also experienced joy in my life that, apart from being a parent, I never would have known existed.
I’d argue that not only are you able to raise incredible kids as a single dad, you’re also uniquely positioned to do it. You have opportunities that two-parent families don’t.

As someone who is passionate for men in the context of mothers, fathers and children, I looked through my rather large collection of books about men and fatherhood. These books have different reasons for being on my top ten list, but they are all classics.
The New Year brings new beginnings. As we head into 2026, the heart of Dads4Kids continues to beat strong with fresh energy and new opportunities.
I fought back tears while listening to “To Be a Man” by Dax. This song about the meaning and challenge of being a man tells us that all men need encouragement, especially when we are tempted to stay, for despairing silence kills.
What is a responsibility? What is the male responsible for? What is the guiding force in determining any of the above? Those are some tough questions.
Many dads come to me in tears after losing their wives, kids – everything. I call it the empty time. It's not a pretty story. Nor was it meant to be.
Encouraging your kids about good behaviour is one of the most effective ways to train, or disciple, your children.
