James Campbell is an Australian author, illustrator and dear friend of Dads4Kids. A father of three, in 2024, he launched out and published Buckster Bull, a wonderful children’s book with a positive life lesson. James writes:

“Something special happens in our hearts when we put others first and let love do its work. Join Buckster Bull and friends at feeding time on the farm, where young farmer Penny portrays this beautiful life lesson, in a creative and wonderful way.”

Since then, James has launched Dusty Boot Books and published a second children’s book How To Build a Truck and Trailer. He writes, “Have you ever wondered who built such a machine, was it a mistake or did someone intervene? Join apprentice Aussie as he builds a truck and trailer with his mechanic dad, and along the way discovers something special.”

According to James’ bio, his inspiration for storytelling and painting comes from his love for the beautiful rural areas of Australia. His passion and attention to detail extends from his trade as a mechanic. With a love for family farming, he writes expressive, poetic literature and brings Dusty Boot Books to life with original watercolour paintings. James says:

“Nothing is more valuable than the memories we create with our children. We all remember those cherished moments of running to the bookshelf, picking out our favourite picture book, then snuggling up to our loved ones for story time. We learnt to read, and creativity started to flow in our young minds, as we gazed upon the beautiful hand-painted classics.”

Like Dads4Kids, Dusty Boot Books prioritises family, creativity and education. James writes, “We value the bond that is created within shared experiences, particularly when reading a beautiful picture book together. Telling stories with purpose and good values will build a positive character that children need for their future.” I couldn’t agree more.

He continues, “We value creativity and the beauty of hand-crafted art. That is why when you purchase a Dusty Boot Book, you are sharing inspired, classic art that everyone can enjoy.” Indeed, and finally, “Dusty Boot Books do not shy away from using diverse vocabulary. This provides an opportunity for interaction between adult and child. By placing more advanced words within a clever rhyming pattern, your child will be supported in their reading.”

As they say, James is right on the money. Through his creativity, he reinforces common-sense values, which the world desperately needs. The feedback from parents is outstanding, too. Summer from Queensland says, “These kids’ books have got to be the most meaningful books I’ve ever read.”

Kristie from WA writes, “These books have been the books of choice at bedtime since they arrived. We can’t get enough of them.” And Sue from NSW says, “Very engaging books and a great teaching resource for any teacher.”

My daughters and I love Buckster Bull. The positive messages rhythmically woven throughout the story are excellent. My daughters enjoy James’ Aussie farm characters and whimsical watercolour illustrations too. The team at Dads4Kids are certainly more than happy to recommend his books.
